Book Baskets
Lenawee Great Start created a free Book Basket program. Book Baskets are found at many locations in the Adrian area, and provide an opportunity for a young child to select and keep a book from the basket, completely free. The goal of these baskets is to ensure that all children in Lenawee County are exposed to books, as research shows that the more a child can interact with a book and be read to, the more prepared they are for school. We have a wonderful partnership with Goodwill in which they allow us to come once a month and sort through their children’s books. Many of these books are hardly used. Along with the Goodwill LINC program we clean the books, label them, put them in baskets and refill our locations.
Currently, these baskets can be found at the following locations:
- Community Action Agency
- Associated Charities
- Department of Human Services
