The program helps qualified households file federal, state and local income tax returns. Volunteer tax preparers must be IRS-certified. A car seat safety check will take place at the Wal-mart Supercenter parking lot at 1601 US-223 in Adrian on Saturday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on site to check car seats and provide education and instruction on proper use and installation. Free seats will be available to children found to be in need of one.

Starting July 16, farmer's markets will be open every Thursday at Promedica Bixby Hospital in Adrian and Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh, sponsored by each hospital's Auxiliary. Hours for Bixby are 9am to 2pm in the hospital lobby (Riverside Drive). Shoppers will find fresh fruit, vegetables and baked goods from Kapnick Orchards. Herrick's market will be from 8am to 3pm in the main entrance lobby at 500 E. Pottawatamie St. Each week will offer a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables and baked goods. Proceeds from each market go toward hospital projects.
Lenawee Kids Summer Art Kamp will be held July 20-24 at the former Adrian Training School property. Kids grades 1-4 meet 9am to noon; Kids in grades 5-8 meet 1-4pm. Students will explore famous artists and have an opportunity to create with ceramics, sculpture, painting, printmaking, drawing, jewelry and more. Leading the camp is Annie Howard, Adrian Public Schools art teacher, and Jackie Whiteley, Tecumseh Public Schools art teacher. An art exhibit and reception will be held Friday, July 24 for the children, with parents and guests welcome. Cost is $70 per child.
The Lenawee County Sheriff's Department will offer a free boater safety class from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at the sheriff's department, 405 N. Winter St. in Adrian.
