What is WIC

Community Action Agency is the WIC provider in Lenawee County and is located on 400 W. South St in Adrian Michigan.

What is WIC?

The Special  (WIC) is a federal program that provides funding to states for supplemental foods, nutrition education, and health care referrals for low-income women who are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or non-breastfeeding post-partum, and to infants and children up to age five who are determined to be at nutritional risk.

Who is Eligible?

Eligibility is based on income. If someone is currently receiving Medicaid or SNAP benefits, they are automatically eligible for WIC. A family of four can earn up to $51,338 annually ($4,279 per mo.) and still qualify for WIC.

How Does WIC Help?

WIC has proven to reduce infant mortality and low birth rates and improves the growth of at-risk infants and children. WIC food dollar assistance can help a family of four save an average of $240 per month on groceries, freeing those dollars for other family expenses or even establishing a family savings account!
