MS-garland

Try making a heart garland–Martha Stewart shows you how in this video. Kids can help by cutting and gluing. Use this heart-shaped template (PDF) and place it on a stack of three sheets of card stock (the example uses red, pink and peach). Staple the center of the hearts and cut out the shapes. Make a 1-inch vertical cut at the pointed end of a heart; cut heart to about 1 inch wide all the way around the inside. Make two 1/2-inch horizontal cuts from the center of the point of the heart. Repeat with other hearts. Link two hearts through the cuts at the points; glue and trim the cut ends to create a point. Continue the process until all the hearts linked. Another garland project makes hearts using strips of paper and a stapler! (todayseverymom.com)

Staple four strips of paper together at one end. Take the two outside strips and bend them down to make a heart. Add two more strips of paper on either side of the heart’s point, and staple. Now repeat as many times as you like.

Finally, how about having your little one paint a masterpiece? Use painter’s tape to spell the word LOVE on a painting canvas (or foam core board). Mix up some red or pink fingerpaint, and let the little one go to town! Carefully remove the tape and let the paint thoroughly dry.
